700,000 people live with dementia in the UK today and that number is set to double within a generation. The disease is not only a terrible experience for the people it claims, but it also places a huge burden on those left to care for loved ones with dementia.
This month (November 2009)Radio 2 takes a closer look at dementia and what life is like for those people who have the illness and for their loved ones.
As part of this season of special programmes, Jeremy Vine looks at issues including ways to prevent alzheimers; the best way to care for someone with dementia and he will also talk to listeners who have recently been diagnosed with dementia about how they are coming to terms with it.
