Career Development Loans are changing As part of the Government’s Real Help Now agenda to provide support for individuals, families and business during the economic downturn, the LSC are looking to make Career Development Loans (CDLs) more attractive for potential learners. CDLs will be re-named Professional and Career Development Loans to broaden their appeal to learnersseeking to enhance their skills for work, retrain or start a career in an emerging industry or profession.
The loan idea is the same – a commercial bank loan between a bank and a learner to pay for their course that leads to work, where the learner enjoys an interest free period while in learning and only begins repaying the loan when they stop their course - but the conditions of the loans will be changing. The process for registering learning providers will remain the same.
